Walkeringham Primary School

Think Smart, Be Kind

Harvest Festival Collection -

Harvest this year has been very different for many schools and we wanted to make sure the current pandemic would not compromise our Harvest collection.  This year we decided to donate to The Salvation Army in Gainsborough and after speaking to them we found out demand for food hampers was up by 300% compared to the same period last year.  We then knew we had to help and make our collection bigger and better than before so we started collecting early and our parents and carers certainly didn’t let us down. Our pupils wanted to spread some cheer during the current pandemic and show how “being kind” can really make a difference.

In November 2019 as many of you will remember our lovely village school was flooded which was devastating for the staff and our pupils. We were out of the school for 4 months, but during this time we were astounded by the generosity of our community, parents, grandparents and Beckingham Primary School who allowed us to use their school to continue educating our children.  The community spirit and kindness shown to us during this time prompted us to give something back.

The Salvation Army are open for food bank collection on the following days Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays 10am-1pm
