Walkeringham Primary School

Think Smart, Be Kind

Vacancies

SENDCO

We are a small rural Primary School serving the village of Walkeringham and its surrounding areas.  The school caters for children from the ages of 3 to 11 and we have the capacity to educate up to 56 children.

We currently have two classes (KS1 and KS2) which are mixed year groups.  This allows the children to benefit from more diverse and advanced lessons in social skills.  They are given the ability to interact with a wider variety of children and gain confidence in their ability to do so.

We are currently looking for a Qualified SENDCO to work for our school for 2.5 hours per week.  Ideally this would be better worked on the same day each week.  However, there would be some flexibility regarding how this works in line with relevant meetings, etc.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has had experience of working in a primary school as a practicing SENDCO
  • Holds the National Award for SENDCO
  • Has a secure understanding of the Code of Practice and can translate this into effective strategies and practice at a school level
  • Is tenacious in their approach to ensuring all children with SEND have an inclusive education

The duties of the role would include:

  • Coordinating provisions for children with SEND
  • Liaising with and advising fellow teachers
  • Overseeing the records of all children with SEND
  • Liaising with parents and external agencies including LA support and Education Psychology services, Health and Social Services and other voluntary bodies
  • Attending relevant meetings on behalf of the school

We can offer a forward thinking school committed to supporting children effectively, a supportive team of staff, parents and governors and a welcoming environment for our children to learn and grow in.

Salary: Main Scale Point 1 – 6.  Plus all other benefits commensurate to a teaching role.

Please contact the school office for further details either by telephone 01427 890355 or email office@walkeringham.notts.sch.uk.  Candidates are invited to support their application with a written letter detailing their potential approach to the position and outlining their knowledge and skills which qualifies them for the post.

Visits to the school are most welcome.
